TOP 10 IN AUSTRALIA!!!

May 11th, 2012

This week we received fantastic news from a  future guest that they had been reading the Caravan & Motorhome on Tour magazine and we were listed in the TOP 10 Caravan parks to visit in Australia. It came as a complete surprise to us so we were straight on the phone to track down a copy.

I couple of months ago we had been contacted by a journalist wanting photos and some information regarding the park. We would never have imagined what a great article he was about to write about our park. We were very impressed by the article as Mark captured the true atmosphere of of our park just perfectly.

We invite everyone to come and enjoy the great atmosphere on offer here at KARUMBA POINT TOURIST PARK

Karumba Community Anglers Classic

May 8th, 2012

Karumba was certainly the place to be for the May Day long weekend. Not only did we enjoy the beautiful weather but some of us lucky one’s were in the draw to win some great prizes at our annual Karumba Community Anglers Classic. The volunteers on the weigh-in station were kept very busy registering all the catches as they were presented from happy anglers ranging in age from toddlers through to grandparents. We look forward to being part of the Anglers Classic again in 2013.

Tourist Season Begins…

April 18th, 2012

The Off-season is officially over! Gone are the deserted empty rows of powered sites, now filled with caravans of all shapes and sizes, tents and camper trailers.

It was a good start to the season in our park , several of guests arrived early in the year to experience our ‘Wet Season.’ Although it didn’t eventuate into a big wet season, they were fortune to experience Karumba as they have never seen it before.
THERE IS NOT TOO MANY PLACES IN THE WORLD WHERE YOU CAN FISH OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CATCH BARRA.

Once the roads opened again we watched the convoy of caravans arrive, all anxious to get their vans set up, get their boats in the water and catch the long awaited first fish.

May our fish keep biting, our guests keep arriving and everyone keeps smiling.
Here’s to many great happy hours with very few hang-overs and a swag of great memories of 2012.

Summer time in Karumba…

January 9th, 2012

Blue Skies, ocean breezes and no rain has been the forecast for Karumba for the past few weeks. We are all awaiting the wet season to bring us some rain however there appears no sign of it yet. In the mean time we are making the most of the dry and getting alot of maintenace done around the park before our guests start arriving. This year we have seen an increase in the amount of people booking early in the year, so fingers crossed the rain doesn’t come and close the roads and we should have our first guest arriving in under a month.

The perfect weather continues…

August 22nd, 2011

Although not as many tourists are making their way to Karumba at this time of year, the weather is still perfect. We hear of all the places around the country suffering from the cold and wet – well not us here. Each day the sun is still shining with very few clouds in the sky. A lot of people head home in August worried about the heat and wet season however this does not come till the very end of each year or closer to the start of next year.

Karumba is a great place to visit at the later part of the year, especially if you enjoy being on the road when not so many tourists are about. Currently the park has many sites available so you can take your pick.

If you are looking for a quiet relaxing place to visit, why not head to the Gulf of Carpentaria. We would love you to call in!!!!

What a great tourist season…

August 2nd, 2011

As the year races past it is bringing the end of the tourist season closer. We have had a fantastic year here at Karumba Point Tourist Park. Many of our regulars have made the journey back to enjoy the great fishing and even better weather. We have also met a range new people visiting for the first time who have enjoyed themselves so much that have booked in for longer stays next year.

One thing that has become very obvious to us is the amount of people who extend their stay in Karumba – it seems that our park and the town certainly appeals to many. We believe it is the friendly people and the relaxed lifestyle that is on offer up here that entices people to stay a little longer.

If you haven’t been to Karumba, we invite you to come and see what you think of our little town in the Gulf of Carpentaria.

State of Origin 2

June 16th, 2011

Another great night at Karumba Point Tourist Park as our guests watched State of Origin 2 on the BIG Screen. Thanks to Nunsy and Patty for the Sausage sizzle which warmed us up a little. The Supporters from both sides turned up to cheer their teams to victory… Sadly it was NSW who claimed the victory which made many of our southern guest very happy… Only time will tell who will be the real champions!!!

Great weather for Eskimos…

June 13th, 2011

The Scarf & Beanie sales have tripled in Karumba over the past few days…. We can certainly spot the locals from the southern visitors… The locals are rugged up like Eskimos and our visitors are commenting how beautiful the weather is.
Either way we are looking forward to the Cold Snap to moving on and the perfect Karumba weather coming back.

The Fish are biting…

June 3rd, 2011

The weather is perfect and the fish are biting here in Karumba. Each morning we see our guests heading with their boats to the ramp and many coming home again with BIG smiles and a catch to boast about.

The Mackerel are on the bite with some fishermen & women proud to show off their catches at the filleting table. Well Done Lil….

This week in Karumba

May 30th, 2011

A beautiful Monday morning in Karumba. It is staring to warm up after the cold snap last week, we thought all our Victorian guests had bought their weather with them.

The wind has also dropped of meaning the boats are all back out on the water catching fish. You nearly need to book a space in the carpark at the boat ramp, there are cars and trailers parked everywhere.

Another busy week planned in the park with a scenic walk this morning, craft afternoon and Belly dancing lessons this afternoon. Don’t forget Bocce and Bingo later in the week and theFree Fish BBQ on saturday has a WILD WILD WEST theme, so dust off the Cowboy hats and we will see you there.
