TRAVEL…

HOW DO WE GET TO KARUMBA?

  • Car – Travel time is approximately 9 hours from Cairns or 5 hours from Cloncurry or 45 minutes from Normanton. All roads are sealed and suitable for commercial vehicles and caravans. Click on our ‘How to find us’ page to view directiond via Google Maps.
  • Plane – Skytrans offers flights to Cairns to Normanton on weekdays – www.skytrans.com.au . A car can then be hired from Doug’s Car Hire to complete your journey to Karumba.
  • Bus – Trans North Bus & Coach Service operates the passenger and light freight service from Cairns to Karumba servicing all towns enroute – www.transnorthbus.com/cairnskarumba.asp

GENERAL INFORMATION…

DOES KARUMBA HAVE MOBILE PHONE ACCESS?

  • The only mobile phones that work in Karumba are Telstra Next G phones. A public phone box is located outside our Caravan Park 

DOES KARUMBA HAVE INTERNET ACCESS?

  • Telstra is the only Internet Provider in Karumba. If purchasing Bigpond Wireless you will need to inform the supplier that you will be using it in a remote area.
  • Internet access is available in our office at a charge of $2.00 per 20 minutes. We have a computer available or you can bring your own laptop.

IS THERE AN ATM IN KARUMBA?

  • There are ATM located both at Karumba Point and in Karumba township

HOW FAR IS THE PARK FROM THE BEACH & BOAT RAMP?

  • The Beach is located approximately 1km from the Beach and Boat Ramp at Karumba Point. Or an alternate Boat Ramp is located in Karumba Township approximately 8km away.

PARK FACILITIES…

WHAT ARE THE PARKS OFFICE HOURS?

  • The office is open from 7:30am – 5:00pm. There is an after hours bell for late arrivals. 

WHAT FACILITIES DOES YOUR OFFICE HAVE?

  • The office stocks Ice, Bait, Cold Drinks, Ice Creams and a range of Souvenirs. We also offer a small selction of groceries.
  • Our office also doubles up as a Craft Shop stocking a range of knitting and crochet needles, wool, cotton, ribbons, laces etc.
  • We are able to book a range of local tours and charters for your convenience.

WHAT IS THE CHECK IN/OUT TIME?

  • All sites are required to be vacated for new arrivals by 10am. Check in time for on-site vans is 2:pm. For any changes to these times please contact our Office as we are happy to accommodate your needs whenever possible.

DO YOU HAVE DUMP STATIONS?

  • Yes, the park has two Dump stations.

ARE PETS ALLOWED IN THE PARK?

  • Yes we are a pet friendly park. All animals must remain to leads whilst walking around the park.

ON-SITE VANS…

DO WE NEED TO BRING LINEN FOR ON-SITE VANS?

  • No, all linen is provided. You will need to bring towels.

ARE PETS ALLOWED IN ON-SITE VANS?

  • All pets must be kept outside of on-site vans at all times.
